CLOSING THE RENEWABLE ENERGY SKILLS GAP

Thursday Nov 4

The College of North West London, Skills2Learn and partners have organised a free event for anyone involved, or who would like to become involved

or who would like to become involved, in providing training and qualifications for the Renewable Energy Sector. It is to be held on 18 November at the College's campus in Dollis Hill, Willesden.

The organisers are highlighting the need for training in the renewable energy sector, citing a comment made by Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Chris Huhne that over a million people will be employed in low-carbon goods and services by 2015.

This event will provide up to date information, news and views on training, qualifications and accreditation through the two Sector Skills Councils involved (SummitSkills and EU Skills), BRE, the Solar Trade Association and Ground Source Heat Pumps Association.

Dr Majid Al-Kader, MD of Skills2Learn, says: "This is a huge challenge and opportunity which we must prepare for now, rather than later. Working alongside the College of North West London we aim to bring together established and aspiring knowledge in this sector and to set a precedent by preparing our sector for the vital work it must undertake in the future."
